Meet the coaches
The people behind every session; experienced, passionate, and invested in every goalkeeper they work with.
Nick Payan
Nick has been playing since age 8. He played at the club level with Team Chicago and Eclipse, and went on to play at East Aurora High School.
​
With over 10 years of coaching experience, Nick has developed goalkeepers at every level. He served as Goalkeeper Director at Chicago Soccer Academy for two years and spent nine years as the Goalkeeper Coach at Marmion Academy, where he built a reputation for developing technically sharp, mentally strong keepers.

In 2020, he founded Fox Valley Goalkeeper Academy with a single goal: make quality goalkeeper coaching accessible and affordable in Aurora. Every session reflects his belief that the position is as much about mindset and leadership as it is about technique.
Orlando Velazquez
Orlando's soccer journey started at age 10, but everything changed at 13 when he first stepped in goal. He went on to become the starting Varsity Goalkeeper at Metea Valley High School, putting together some standout performances before continuing his career at Waubonsee Community College.

When he's not on the pitch, Orlando is diving into two completely different worlds: studying zoology and learning the ins and outs of mechanics. Keeping goals secure, studying wildlife, and fixing machines, just keeping life interesting.​
Bryan Grimaldo
Bryan has been playing soccer since he was 5 years old. He played at Waubonsie Valley High School and went on to compete at the college level at both Dominican University and Aurora University, both in the NACC (Division III). He graduated from Aurora University in 2025 with a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy.

Bryan began coaching at just 15 years old, starting with Lil' Kickers at Just For Kicks before later joining the Fox Valley Goalkeeper Academy staff during his college years. He also brings high-level club experience from his time with Galaxy Soccer Club, where he competed in USYS National League and Midwest Conference play.
Nathan Mancilla
After graduating and receiving his diploma, Nathan reflected on the people who had the greatest impact on his journey. He credits Coach Nick for helping shape him not only as an athlete, but also as an individual. Through Coach Nick's advice, encouragement, and leadership, he learned what it means to be a leader both on and off the pitch. Those lessons have stayed with him throughout the years and continue to influence him today.

As a coach, Nathan strives to provide that same guidance, encouragement, and support to every athlete he works with. He is passionate about helping players grow both on and off the field, giving back to the community, and helping the next generation of athletes become confident leaders and strong individuals.
